It is important for those with BPD and those who are family members, loved ones, ex or relationship partners or friends of those with BPD to note that no one can change or rescue someone from Borderline Personality Disorder.
There is help to be found for those diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). While the main core of this help is best delivered by professional therapists one must be careful when choosing a therapist. One must also be ready and prepared to take personal responsibility for helping him or herself.
Splitting is a primitive defense mechanism that borderlines routinely enact when they are triggered by events/emotions in the here and now that threaten their feeling anything to do with their original core wound of abandonment and the intrapsychic trauma associated with that abandonment.
For those diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder the idea of recovery is often a mystery. Many with BPD don’t believe that they can recover. I am someone who has recovered and I am here to share that it is possible and the steps that one can take to truly prepare for finding the way out of BPD.
